Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi have been dispatched to a remote planet to rescue Senator Bail Organa and his crew! But are Gui-Gon and Obi-Wan prepared for the threats they will face on this uncharted planet to rescue the senator?
Madibek Musabekov and Luis Guerrero’s art are on full display for this issue as every page is a full splash-page detailing the events as Obi-Wan’s after-action report details what happened on their rescue attempt. The story itself is pretty bare and feels more like a vehicle to let Musabekov draw engaging forest/mountain settings and giant monsters. Honestly, I’m not really complaining about that. The art is the draw, and it should be a major draw. Musabekov, with the help of Luis Guerrero’s colors, is on a heater in this series and it is a sight to behold and incredible to read.
The other thing to note about this issue is that it’s easy to pick up and just read. There’s no real prior knowledge of Star Wars or this series specifically needed to be able to read this issue. I’m not sure how much of this story is going to be important in the over-arching story about Corlus Rath or Atha Prime, but it’s an easy-to-understand one-shot story that any new reader can pick up and get into.
My only real major criticism I have of this issue is how short I felt it was. There is not a lot of meat to this story and it took me only a few minutes to read, so if you are looking for something longer, you may not have as much with this issue.
